Catalyst has now enabled login to its services using a ProtectNetwork ID (PN ID). From the release:
"To support Web-based communication and collaboration with individuals outside the UW community, Catalyst Web Tools can now be accessed with a free ProtectNetwork ID (PN ID)... Non-UW colleagues with a PN ID can now log in to Catalyst Tools to submit or share files, take or collaborate on a survey or quiz, participate in or moderate a discussion board, and more."
University of Texas, MIT, Andrew Mellon Foundation all already use ProtectNetwork ID so though you don't need a ProtectNetwork ID to access Catalyst (since you can use your UW NetID) you may wish to obtain one for access to systems at other colleague institutions. See the Catalyst Login System web page for more information.
